Documentary Film: Invented Before You Were Born

Jonathan Knight produced a documentary film about the discovery he and his sibling Rachel Knight made regarding their ancestors’ roles as Kentucky slave holders. Confronting their family history led to their meeting with Black descendants of the people enslaved by their ancestor, Richard Bibb. That prompted a journey with journalist and historian Le Datta Grimes to gather stories of descendants linked by enslavement. Their efforts culminated in a powerful family reunion in Kentucky at the site that represents both bondage and freedom.
