A Message from the Club President

Hello,

The Rotary Club of Menlo Park is a group of men and women that has a good time working on service projects that benefit our surrounding communities.  For example, we like tutoring kids and putting on the annual Tour de Menlo Bike Ride to raise money for local projects.  Our Rotarians recently volunteered to refurbish a local preschool desperately in need of renovation, and we have helped with Special Olympics in San Jose the past two years.

We have a local Foundation, that is run by a Board of Directors, all of whom are members of the Rotary Club of Menlo Park.  We are proud that 100% of the donations to this Foundation are used for programs and thus are 100% tax exempt. Every year the Foundation gives out approximately $70,000 in scholarships to local students and an additional $15,000 annually in grants to local non-profit groups.

Our involvement with international projects is growing, as Menlo Park Rotary is the sponsoring club and recipient of a $300,000 Rotary International matching grant for a health, education, and microlending project in Guatemala.

We also like to have fun in other ways.  Each summer we have a bar-b-q, and each winter a holiday party.  We also have periodic TGIFs, and 15 of us just signed up to set up a wine appreciation group.  As we form friendships during our meetings, events, and service projects, frequently we strengthen our business relationships with other members and the community at large.

If you would like to find out more about the Rotary Club of Menlo Park, you are welcome to attend a meeting.  These are held most Wednesdays at noon at the Menlo Park Rec Center, 700 Alma Street.  You may also contact us through this website or call 650-321-7343.
